There are many reasons to consider a metal roof for your home: Long lasting durability, long-term cost savings, and the high quality value and appearance. But there is another reason to invest in a metal roof that many do not consider. Metal roofs help conserve our environment!
According to the National Association of Homebuilders Research Center, 20 BILLION pounds of asphalt shingles are dumped into our landfills every year at a cost of $400 Million per year! The recycled content of the steel in a metal roof is right around 50%. Plus, in some instances, your metal roof can be installed over your existing roof putting less demand on our natural resources by filling less landfill space.
Although a metal roof will likely outlast the home it protects, at the end of its life, the entire roof can be recycled making it a valuable renewable resource.
The cost of heating and cooling our homes continue to rise. Metal roofs are environmentally responsible because of their excellent energy efficiency. Metal roofs deflect the sun's UV radiation keeping your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
